Roman is one of nine horses currently seeking placement through our program following the tragic passing of one owner, which has left the remaining elderly owner unable to continue their care. He is reported to be a registered, tattooed Thoroughbred; however, we were unable to catch him during our visit to confirm a tattoo or assess his age. Based on observation, we estimate he is likely in his mid to late teens and stands at least 16hh.

During our visit, Roman remained nearby but just out of reach, appearing curious yet hesitant to fully engage. His soft expression suggests a kind disposition, and we suspect he may simply lack confidence. Roman will require a patient and experienced handler to further assess his level of training and help him build trust.

He has maintained his weight well through the winter on a basic feeding program of once-daily grain and free-choice round bale access, indicating he is an easy-keeper. At this time, he is not up to date on routine care beyond daily feeding. His new owner should be prepared to address Coggins, vaccinations, deworming, dental, and farrier needs. He has been turned out successfully with mares and geldings, and appears to maintain a neutral position within the herd.
