Phoenix is a solid 2015, approximately 14.2h grade Quarter Horse mare seeking a home with someone who can provide her with training from the ground up. Phoenix and a filly (Scarlet, also available) was purchased by her owner from an auction in Bowie, Texas in July 2023 and arrived in Maryland in September 2023. She arrived thin and in need of some TLC, which you can see from some of the photos included in this listing. She easily gained the weight with consistent meals, time on grass and in-feed deworming. She was weaned by Scarlet and it was discovered that Phoenix was in-foal, yet again, with another filly. She was most likely bred at, or soon before, the auction, unbeknownst to her owner. Surprise! Luna (also available) was born in April 2024.

One of our trainers attended the assessment visit with Phoenix and confirmed that she does, indeed, appear to be completely unhandled. As a result, we were not able to get hands-on with her, but did get an opportunity to put her in a round pen to see how she goes. She was incredibly responsive to our trainer and sensitive to pressure. Phoenix also appeared to be very sound and is a very cute mover!

Phoenix is going to need to go to an owner with extensive training experience or one who can employ the assistance of a professional trainer. Though a large pony, she is thick enough to fill out an adult rider's leg. She will be ready for training once she is weaned from Luna in the late summer/early fall season. Her owner is willing to place her with Luna now or her new owner will have to wait until she is weaned to take her. Phoenix is currently being fed full meals 2x/day due to the fact that she is still nursing a foal. She receives deworming through her feed, but other than that will require updating on all aspects of care. Phoenix lives outside 24/7 with access to a run-in shed.
