If you're searching for the kind of horse who instantly steals your heart, meet Dazzle! This adorable 2004, 16.1h unraced Thoroughbred mare is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy life as a cherished companion or light riding horse for a confident intermediate rider.

Dazzle is the definition of a kind, honest mare. Homebred and deeply loved, she has spent her entire life on the same farm and has never known anything but gentle care. She was started under saddle around 8 years old and was used primarily for leisurely trail rides around the property. Although it had been over 10 years since she was last ridden, you never would have guessed it.

Watching Dazzle under saddle was one of the highlights of our visit. Her owner simply hopped on bareback, and Dazzle stood quietly to be mounted before walking off as though she'd been ridden the day before. She happily walked and trotted both in the round pen and out in the open, taking everything in stride. Horses don't fake that kind of temperament—that's the sign of a truly good-minded mare. While she did appear a bit short-strided in the front end, it appeared to be that she was a bit tender-footed and we think she could benefit from front shoes if someone planned to ride her regularly. Given her age and history, we'd envision her happiest enjoying easy trail rides or light pleasure riding.

When brought into a stall—a setting that's outside of her normal routine—Dazzle pawed briefly until she was offered something to eat. Once she had something to munch on, she relaxed completely and stood quietly, untied, while she was groomed. She happily allowed all four feet to be picked, stood patiently for fly spray, and accepted the bit and bridle without hesitation. Throughout our visit, she was easygoing, cooperative, and seemed to genuinely enjoy all the extra attention. She's the kind of mare that's simply pleasant to be around.

Dazzle lives outside 24/7 with both mares and geldings and does well in a mixed herd. She occasionally wears a blanket during especially frigid winter weather but is otherwise happy living outdoors year-round. She is up to date on deworming and has been self-trimming, so she has not required regular farrier visits. Her owner will update her vaccinations and Coggins before she heads to her new home.

An easy keeper through and through, Dazzle maintains her weight well on pasture without grain and is currently carrying a bit of extra fluff. She requires very little maintenance and has spent her life thriving on a simple routine.
