Belle is one of nine horses currently seeking placement through our program following the tragic passing of one owner, which has left the remaining elderly owner unable to continue their care. She is a registered, tattooed Thoroughbred; however, her tattoo was not legible at the time of assessment. Based on dentition and owner input, we estimate Belle to be in her 20s. She is a notably tall mare, standing approximately 16.2hh.

Belle was among the first to greet us in the field and proved easy to catch, quietly allowing herself to be haltered. She stood calmly for evaluation and was cooperative, even allowing a front foot to be picked up amid the activity around her. Throughout our visit, she remained people-oriented and preferred to stay nearby, though she did display some pushiness at times, suggesting she may benefit from a refresher in ground manners.

Given her tattoo, Belle has had some level of previous training under saddle, though it may have been many years ago. She should be thoughtfully evaluated to determine what she retains before any riding is considered. Due to her age, she would also be well-suited for a non-riding companion home.

Belle maintains her weight well and has wintered successfully, unblanketed, with a simple feeding routine of once-daily grain and free-choice round bale access. She was recently (May 2026) dewormed and vaccinated, and had her front hooves trimmed and a Coggins drawn. She will need to be updated on dental and her hind feet trimmed. She has been turned out successfully with both mares and geldings.
