Amigo is a loveable 2011, 17h Draft-X gelding seeking a home as a companion. Amigo found himself at the 2023 New Year's Day sale at a local auction, lame and scared. His current owner purchased him in an effort to keep him safe and give him the care he needed. Upon taking him home, his owner had him evaluated by a vet where he was diagnosed with high ring bone in the left front. Though the diagnosis meant he'd be unrideable, his owner has provided him with all he's needed this past year. That being said, Amigo is now in need of a new home where he can have an easy-going life.

We observed a sweet, chill guy during our visit with Amigo. Despite not having much done with him for about two weeks during the holiday season, he was easily caught and lead in from the field. He was a little cautious at first, we're sure wondering why there were so many people there to see him, but was still very sweet and easy to work around. He handled taking off his sheet, grooming head to toe and picking out all four hooves with ease. After spit-shining, he was lead to an unfamiliar area of the farm for photos and, while curious, he willingly participated and cooperated for his glamour shots session.

Amigo's owner tells us that he's able to be handled by just about anyone and seems to really like kids. He stands well for the vet and farrier. Amigo straight and cross-ties, loads, bathes and sprays. Though well-behaved in stalls, it is advised that Amigo live primarily outside 24/7, as he does get stiff when unable to move around for extended periods of time. He is currently being maintained on 1g Bute daily. Amigo does well with both mares and geldings, and his owner would prefer that he be integrated into a quiet, stable herd without too many shenanigans, since he will partake in festivities and get sore. Amigo is UTD on everything and will come with his WeatherBeeta sloth turnout sheet. This boy is sweet as can be and ready to go! Let us know if you feel you could give him the fantastic home he deserves.
