This mare is one of nine horses currently seeking placement through our program following the tragic passing of one owner, which has left the remaining elderly owner unable to continue their care. As she does not have a name, we are referring to her as #2. While her exact age is unknown, we estimate she is approximately 10–15 years old and stands around 15.1–15.2hh.

#2 has had minimal handling and we were told she has not previously left the property. She will require an experienced trainer or handler familiar with desensitization and working with unhandled horses. That said, she has not had negative interactions with people and presents as a friendly, inquisitive mare who readily approaches—occasionally with limited awareness of personal space. With consistent handling, she is expected to make steady progress. Once she develops a solid foundation on the ground, we see no reason she could not continue on to be started under saddle. She appears sound, is solidly built, and, combined with her willing disposition, demonstrates strong potential for future development with the right training program.

She maintains her condition well and is currently living out 24/7, barefoot, and unblanketed, having wintered successfully in this setup. At this time, she is not up to date on routine care beyond daily feeding. Her new owner should be prepared to address Coggins, vaccinations, deworming, dental, and farrier needs. She has been turned out successfully with both mares and geldings.
