Meet Gone Girl, a beautiful ~21 year old, 15h grade Morgan-type mare seeking a home as a trail horse for an intermediate rider who appreciates a horse with character. This girl is experienced in a wide variety of disciplines, including English and Western, equine lacrosse, 4-H, games, shows and trails. Due to her owner moving out-of-state, she is now seeking a home (ideally with her buddy, Blaze) where she can continue to be enjoyed and loved as much as she already is.
Gone Girl is a born leader and prefers to be at the front of the line when out on the trail. She crosses water, bridges, logs and is truly unfazed by most obstacles. After a previous career of riders with rough hands, Gone Girl is happiest with a bitless bridle and does very well. She would do best with a lighter weight rider. It has been a couple of years since this girl was ridden, but she is the type of horse who can just get up and go no matter how long she's been out of work. So her owner does not anticipate there being an issue with bringing her back into work.
Overall, Gone Girl is a sweet gal to handle on the ground. She is good for the vet and farrier. She also stands very nicely for kids to groom her and love on her. The one thing she does not enjoy is a quick cinch, so going slow with her during tacking up or blanketing is essential. She ties, bathes, clips and loads without issues. Gone Girl is not a fan of being locked in stalls, so she would do best where she can be given access to 24/7 turnout. She can be dominant with other horses and isn't a fan of other horses coming up behind her, but other than that gets along fine with both mares and geldings.
Gone Girl is a pretty easy girl to manage and care for. She's a fairly easy-keeper and maintains her weight well grain and hay, and very little grass. If she were turned out on more grass, she would absolutely not require as much grain. She does receive MSN in her feed once per day to help keep her comfortable as she ages. Gone Girl gets a nice shaggy coat in the winter months, so blanketing can be optional depending on the weather and her access to shelter.
UTD on everything, this gal is ready to go to her new home! If you're looking for a trusty trail partner, Gone Girl could be the one for you!
