Champion is a 1997, 15.2hh Standardbred gelding looking for a home as a companion or possibly light riding horse. He has been out of work for some time due to an abscess, but his vet and farrier have now cleared him for light riding. His previous owner confirmed that he was well-behaved on trails. That being said, Champion would also be completely content as a pasture pal for a wide range of equines, big and small.
Champion is up to date on all shots, dental and farrier care. It is recommended that he be kept on a low sugar diet. He is good with mares and geldings in turnout, and is low in the pecking order. Champion can be a little herd-bound when first separated from his friends, but quickly settles down. He’d be good for an advanced beginner handler. He may be suitable for a less experienced rider, but will need to be further evaluated.
Southern Maryland Equine Miracles has stepped up to temporarily house and care for Champion while he’s between owners. Please consider giving him a forever home to live out his days!
