Lisbon, Maryland – April 16, 2009 – Glasses were raised as well as funds at Days End Farm Horse Rescue’s 2nd annual “Grapes of Hooves” fundraiser on April 4th. The evening of wine tasting and auction bidding raised over $25,000, which will directly benefit abused and neglected horses, as well as support rehabilitation efforts and community outreach programs.
Brenda Curry and Suzanne Schooler, Event Chair and Co-Chair respectively, welcomed over 120 guests to the Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville. Wine tasting stations, hot Maryland Crab dip, gourmet cheeseboards, carved roasted ham, and turkey breast, were enjoyed by all.
Distinguished auctioneer, Michael Whitson, helped move the bidding along on the silent and live auctions, contributing to the fun and fundraising. Bidders vied for wine lots, original art and craft works, collectibles, sports memorabilia, dining gift certificates and vacation stays.
“It was an exciting and memorable event,” said Kathy Howe, Director of Days End Farm Horse Rescue. “It was well planned and executed, thanks to the intensive dedication of the committee chairs and our many volunteers who lived and breathed this event over the last year. I can’t wait to see the surprises they have in store for us next year!”
Mt. Airy Liquors provided expertise on wines from all over the globe, including two local Maryland Wineries—Black Ankle and Elk Run. Wine bottles were also auctioned off, along with table centerpieces honoring Days End Farm’s horses and commemorating the organization’s 20th Anniversary.
The event was sponsored SPC Incorporated, Consolidated Insurance Center, Inc., AR Integrated Technologies, Brown & Associates, Inc., Dynamic Business Flow and First Impressions.
